SCHOLARLY OUTPUT ACROSS THE SDGS

The University has a standing policy that mandates all researchers to engage in research tailored
towards addressing the SDGs.
The United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development has 17 Sustainable
Development Goals (SDGs) that aspire to ensure prosperity for all while protecting the planet.
To that end, Landmark University has urged all members of faculty and staff to contribute
meaningfully to the achievement of these goals through research and innovation. Here are some
ways researchers within our university engage in research tailored towards addressing the SDGs:

  1. Evaluate the SDGs and determine the most applicable ones to your research interests. Begin to
think of opportunities where you or your research team may apply their skills and knowledge as
    leverage for SDG progress.
  2. Utilize research projects to develop intervention programs and policy recommendations aimed
at achieving the relevant SDGs. Ensure interdisciplinary approach so as to give feedback and
reflections to other researchers engaged in SDGs.
  3. Utilize innovative technologies for research and development to achieve SDGs. This may
comprise of mobile health, 3D printing, nanotechnology, sensors, and artificial intelligence
    mechanisms amongst others.
  4. Work with public and private sector organizations, civil society groups, and other research
institutions in partnerships that align research goals and objectives with SDG targets. This will
help in bridging and fostering lasting partnerships aimed at greater impacts.
  5. Integrate SDGs into the research methodology and data collection processes.
  6. Evaluate research outputs through the lens of SDGs. That is, consider how well the outputs are
tailored to contribute to SDG targets, and monitor and evaluate the results and impact, using
    SDG indicators as appropriate.
