MINUTES OF THE 1st MEETING OF SDG 2 (ZERO HUNGER) HELD ON TUESDAY 17th 1 2 OF MAY, 2022 AT THE LANDMARK UNIVERSITY INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITION

16 01 Opening 

17 The meeting commenced at 2:00 p.m. with an opening prayer said by Dr. Okunola  18 Agenda 

19 1. Change of guard: Dr. Aboyeji appreciated everyone for their support and announced the new  20 coordinator in person of Dr. Ajide, he craved the indulgence of all members to support the new  21 coordinator 

22 02. Opening Remark: The opening remark was made by the new coordinator in person of Dr.  23 Ajide Solomon 

24 03. Dr. Ajide appreciated everyone for coming and also requested the support of all members, so  25 as to drive the vision of SDG-2 successfuly 

26 Members were requested to introduce themselves one after the other  

27 04. Business of the Day

28 The Coordinator briefed the members on the meeting held with the Vice Chancellor on May 5,  29 2022, from the 2021 University ranking by the Times Higher Education (THE), in which SDG-2  30 scored 44.9%. 

31 He said the next ranking is November 2022, hence the need for holding regular meetings  32 fortnightly and it is important for us to take pictures and short videos in every of our meetings,  33 he mentioned the things that are needed for the next ranking which are the Cafeteria kitchen  34 waste, community impact (town gown, involving secondary school students) and webinar. 

35 He said the weight and pictures of the Kitchen waste from the cafeteria in the last few weeks has  36 been taken and most piggery farmers do come from the town to buy it, which is also a way of  37 solving hunger problems in backyard animal farming. 

38 The Coordinator also emphasized that we should always try to attend any conference affiliated  39 to zero hunger and also upload or tag an upcoming event on our handles, he gave an extensive  40 update of the conference that was attended on 10/05/2022 at Ilorin.  

41 A member suggested we should open a whatsapp group since most people open their whatsapp  42 more often than mail, it was suggested that there should be rules governing the purpose of the  43 whatsapp group. 

44 Webinar: The Coordinator said we should work on a suitable topic, Dr. Aboyeji said you either  45 suggest topics or the invited facilitator suggest about three topics, DLUCRID will select the  46 most suitable topics out of the suggested ones 

47 Community Impact: One of the members said since most schools do not engage in practical  48 farming especially those in the boarding house, backyard farming can be introduced 

49 The Coordinator suggested we can look for out for programmes that can motivate the youth in to  50 different farming practices, he used the Nigerian idol TV show as an example that recorded an  51 average of 7,000,000 to 22,000,000 weekly votes for eliminating the contestants, thereafter Dr.  52 Olayiwola suggested competitions between secondary schools. 

53 Another member suggested a competition inform of spelling bee, debate etc. growing of  54 vegetables that will grow within a short period of time, while their teachers will also be trained  55 along with their students. 

56 The Coordinator said Kwara Agriculture Network will be meeting with the Vice Chancellor on  57 Thursday, May 19, 2022 and requested the house for pressing things to table before them  58 regarding the anticipated partnership and collaboration. 

59 A member asked if they can facilitate our collaboration with the likes of ARMTI, NCAM where  60 tractors and some other machineries can be borrowed to ease the various farming activities of the  61 environs.

62 Another member suggested the training of Landmark University Students on different rudiments  63 of agriculture instead of graduating and hunting for job

65 It was suggested that the LMU Corporate affairs Unit be informed any time we are having  66 meetings to take pictures and record videos  

67 06 Date of next meeting 

68 The date for the next meeting was fixed to be Tuesday (31/05/2022) by 2:00 p.m.

72 The Coordinator appreciated everyone for coming. He enjoined everyone to come earlier next  73 meeting.
