Landmark University actively contributes to the local arts through a range of cultural events, performances, and programs that engage students, staff, and the surrounding community. These artistic initiatives include annual choir concerts, dance shows, cultural dress days, and art exhibitions, which collectively foster a vibrant environment that celebrates creativity, diversity, and cultural heritage.
One of the key events organized by Landmark University is the annual choir concert known as Tabernacle of Psalms. Tabernacle of Psalms brings together talented student vocalists and musicians in a celebration of music and spirituality. The concert, which is highly anticipated each year, serves as an opportunity for students to perform a variety of musical pieces, from contemporary gospel to classical hymns, creating an uplifting and inspiring atmosphere. Tabernacle of Psalms is attended by students, staff, and local community members, who gather to appreciate the university’s musical talent and engage in a shared experience of worship and celebration.
In addition, Landmark University organizes a dance concert called SORT (Spirit of Rhythm and Talent). SORT provides a platform for student dancers to express themselves through movement, choreography, and rhythm. The concert features a variety of dance styles, from traditional African dances to contemporary performances, reflecting the diverse cultural backgrounds of the student body. SORT is an engaging event that allows students to explore their creative talents while promoting physical fitness, teamwork, and discipline. By featuring both traditional and modern dance forms, SORT bridges the gap between heritage and contemporary art, making it a unique cultural contribution that resonates with both students and the wider community.
Landmark University also fosters cultural awareness through its periodic Cultural Sundays. On these days, students wear traditional attire representative of their ethnic backgrounds, allowing them to celebrate and share their cultural heritage with their peers. This regular event provides students with a unique opportunity to showcase the diversity of Nigerian and African cultures, as they don colorful garments and accessories that reflect their tribal identities. Cultural Sundays promote pride in individual backgrounds, celebrate the richness of Nigerian heritage, and provide a visual and interactive cultural experience for the entire university.
Additionally, Landmark University’s art group, “Gifted Hands,” is an organization that brings together students with a passion for visual arts. Members of Gifted Hands regularly display their artwork in exhibitions and events, showcasing talents in painting, sculpture, and crafts. This group fosters creativity, skill development, and a strong sense of artistic identity among its members. By holding exhibitions open to the university and local community, Gifted Hands contributes to the local art scene and encourages appreciation for visual arts.
