PEER TUTORING POSITIONS: CHEMISTRY, BIOCHEMISTRY AND BIOLOGY COURSES

Position Description: Landmark University’s Peer Tutoring Centre is now hiring peer tutors for the Alpha semester. Peer tutoring is an excellent way to review and deepen your knowledge of core content in your major, earn money on campus in a job related to your major, build leadership skills, enhance your resume, serve as a mentor and role model to other LMU students, and help them succeed in their coursework.  

Time Commitment: 6-8 hours/week required;

Responsibilities: Peer-tutors are required to: 

1. Hold regularly-scheduled tutoring hours for students enrolled in the course (~ 6 hrs/week); Peer tutors may also assist students who cannot make regularly scheduled hours, and/or hold study sessions prior to exams or major assignments on a by-appointment basis.
2. Be abreast with the course material; 
3. Communicate with the course faculty as necessary;
4. Maintain and report weekly a detailed record of students tutored and/or other peer-tutoring related activities; and
5. Attend the REQUIRED peer-tutor discussion/training sessions per semester. 

Eligibility: Peer-tutors shall:

1. Be enrolled LMU students for at least one semester;
2. Have previously completed the course to be tutored with an “A” grade;
3. Be in good academic standing with a minimum CGPA of 4.00; and
4. Be available to attend the course lectures and discussions (optional).

Preference will be given to undergraduate and postgraduate science students. 

This job is an on-campus ONLY position without the option of meeting outside the designated Peer Tutoring Centre.

Stipend: ₦1,000 per hour, excluding course lectures attendance hours.
