The Centre for Learning Resources (CLR) also known as Landmark
University Library kicked off her 2nd Edition of Library Week tagged
“Library Week 2022”. The week-long programme which was held between
12th and 15th July, 2022 were flagged with a presentation by the Ag Director,
Centre for Learning Resources, Dr Ayooluwa Aregbesola titled “Library:
the Centre of Knowledge”. The event was used to stir-up reading, promote
the usage of the robust library resources and market library services. This is
an effort to contribute to the understanding of the important role that the
The University library plays in supporting teaching, learning and research
among members of the University community. Dr Ayooluwa Aregbesola
said that even though, the Centre is well-endowed with relevant and recent
books, journals, and periodicals both physical and virtual, their underutilization would be doing injustice to the rich investment of the proprietor
base. According to him, “The library is much more than a passive repository
for knowledge. For the undergraduates and postgraduates, the library as a
place, and the library as a service are central to their experience at the
university.” He further stated that Library Week was aimed at
reawakening the consciousness of both students and staff to the maximum
use of the academic-support resources in the Centre.
Other programmes of activities are:
Current Awareness Service: To inform the library users about the
newly acquired books in the library. Such books were displayed at
the Library Reception throughout the week from 12th and 15th July,
2022.
Amnesty: Amnesty from library fines during this special week was
granted to library users. Anyone returning library book(s) that have
accumulated overdue fines do not have to pay. However, this only
applies to books returned during the library week
The Management led by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Charity Aremu visited
the library to see newly acquired books and other materials related to their
research areas and other information needs. The Vice-Chancellor noted
that the role of the library cannot be overemphasized in providing access
points to the information needed for national and international
development and integration in a democratic and dynamic global setting.
She, therefore, appreciated the library management led by the Ag. Director,
Dr Ayooluwa Aregbesola, noting “the depth of professionalism and
diligence, cheerfully and consistently demonstrated by the Staff in the
Centre for Learning Resources.” She commended the leadership for keeping
the tempo of excellence in its operations which has earned heart-warming
feedbacks from the external context not only from individuals but also
educational institutions including accreditation bodies and professional
organizations.
