The Creative Writer’s Forum; a team of passionate writers within Nigeria and other countries, with representation in Landmark University held the maiden Landmark University Writing Contest titled; My Pen Speaks with the grand finale and award ceremony.
The event borne out of the vision ‘to inspire a generation via the truth of God’s Word’ had a good number of student participants where they engaged in writing of stories, poem, articles and content that blends contemporary settings with ancient infallible truths.
Amidst the forum’s core guides of engagements are spirituality, excellence, accountability, diligence, integrity and collaboration. These are the anchor with which the writing contest was hosted, culminating to a huge success and assurances of lives impacted.
Prizes and Awards
The writing contest was a beautiful and rewarding experience for both the participants and the forum with several prizes given out to the top ten best submissions from each stage, as well as spectacular performance. Selected faculties and individuals from the Student Council were also awarded for their meritorious efforts in making the event an overall success.
Conclusively the three emerging winners are;
1st Position (Overall) – Olanrewaju Adeshewa (300 Level) – N50,000 Naira cash prize, Publishing, and promotion deal to several publishing platforms across Nigeria and about five countries, and an Award of Excellence.
1st Runner-Up: Uwakwe Ihuoma (100 Level) – N30,000 Naira cash price, a Publishing deal, and an Award of Excellence
2nd Runner-Up: Ibejigba Enoch Oluwatobi (400 Level) – N20,000 Naira cash price, Publishing deal, and an Award of Excellence.
- Skilled Students Awards
The University hosted the Skilled Students Awards on Saturday 18th November, 2023 courtesy of the Skilled Students Awards organization ably led by an Eagle from our Sister University; Covenant University at International Conference Centre. The event was aimed at celebrating the tenacity of our Kings and Queens with exceptional skills, recognizing their outstanding achievements, contributions, dedication and talents while also appreciating the Faculties from each College as Lecturer (s) of the year.
Amongst the student winners are: Dancer of the year; Emmanuel Omenogor, Tech Savy of the year; Inafa Emmanuella, Comedian of the year; Lakpa the Great, Photographer of the year; was Jones Mofiyinfoluwa, Brand of the year; Vtech, Actor of the year; Bello Tomike, Athlete of the year; Chioma Nnajiofor, Artist (Fine artist) of the year; Aderonmu Enifejesukiinu, Influencer of the year; Afolabi Ayodele, Artist (Musician) of the year; Umoh Isaac (Zikkyberry), Entrepreneur of the year; Akinrinola Oluwatofunmi (ICON Closet), Graphics designer of the year; Modupe Emmanuel, Videographer of the year; Balogun Emmanuel (Embot), Agripreneur of the year; Oyewole Oluwalonimi, Fashion designer of the year; Anifowose Ololade (lolaneedles), Content creator of the year; Tolulope Fajimi, Model of the year; Tosiubi Marvelous and the Skilled Students Award of the year (ICON 360); King Yusuf Gideon, the Chairman, Landmark University Student Council.
For the Staff category were; the Staff of the year (CAS); Mrs. Faith Igbekele, Staff of the year (COE); Prof. John Ojediran, Staff of the year (CBS); Dr. Ben-Caleb, Staff of the year (CPAS) Dr. Emmanuel Igbekele, Social Impact Staff of the year; Daniel Kolapo Emmanuel.
This colorful event is believe to motivate our kings and queens on their gifts, talents and crafts to keep honing their skills and continually contribute to the University.
