THE JOURNEY SO FAR!
At the inception of the University in 2011, the Management instituted the Conference and Research Committee; headed by Professor E.M.A. Olatunji of the Department of Physical Sciences. The Committee was saddled with the three (3) fold responsibilities – Research, Conference, and Publication. This went on till the first quarter of 2016. However, in April 2016, the three segments of the Conference and Research Committee reemerged as different Committees viz: The Publication Committee, the Research Committee, and the Conference Committee. Precisely on the 11th day of April, 2016, the Landmark University Research Committee was inaugurated by the then Vice-Chancellor, Professor Aize Obayan. Professor Ifeanyi Onyeonoru (the then Dean of the College of Business and Social Sciences) was appointed as the Chair of the Committee. Other members of the Committee include Prof. S. O. Olabanji, Prof. O.O. Agbede, Prof. A. J. Akangbe, Prof. S.I.A. Ojo, Prof. (Mrs) Z. D. Ozunde, Dr. B. O. Adebesin, Dr. P.B. Ogunlade, Dr. H.I. Owamah, Dr. S. O. Adewara, Dr. (Mrs) E. T. Alori, and Mr. P. T. Aransiola as the Secretary. These Committee after several meetings and brainstorming sessions came up with the ‘Research Agenda’ document for the University, and the creation of six (6) active Research Clusters. These are created according to the existing Colleges then, and they include:
At the expiration of the Sabbatical stay of Professor Onyeonoru in 2017, Dr. B.O. Adebesin was appointed to lead the Committee by the current Vice-Chancellor, Professor Adeniyi Olayanju. The Committee under the new Vice-Chancellor transformed from Research Committee into ‘Landmark University Research Advisory Board’ on 8 March 2018 with additional new members, up till August 2019. The activities and the transformational ideas of the Vice-Chancellor culminated into several drive on different platforms for the establishment of the Scopus-drive Unit under the Office of the Coordinator Vice-Chancellors’ Office, Dr Olatunde Dahunsi, in furtherance of the global relevance effort in the area of Research for the University. At the inception of the 2019/2020 Academic Session in September 2019, the new Directorate was conceived with the name “Landmark University Centre for Research, Innovation and Development” and Dr. B. O. Adebesin was appointed as the Pioneering Director.

In the 2019/2020 Academic Session, Different Units were created under LUCRID namely the Consulting Unit, Strategic Partnership (Innovation) Unit, Research and Development Unit, Conference and Attendance Unit, Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer Office (IPPTO), Technology Incubation and Transfer (Research arm), Grant Management and Atmospheric Weather Facility.

The Landmark University Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Group Coordinators was formally inaugurated by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Adeniyi Olayanju, on 2nd July, 2020. The list of the coordinators and corresponding SDG title is as follow

In the 2020/2021 Academic Session, LUCRID hosted the Maiden Webinar entitled “Research, Publication and Ranking: A Re-assessment of Landmark Model", on Tuesday, 11th August 2020. The presenter is Professor Adeniyi Olayanju. The Webinar series recorded Fifteen (15) webinars in the 2020/2021 Session.

Seven (7) SDGs received seed grant towards research with different amounts ranging from N35,000 to N250,000.

On Friday, 19th November 2021, a new Director, LUCRID was announced. The official Hand Over ceremony between the former Director, Prof. B.O. Adebesin and the new, Dr. A.A. Adediran was done on Monday, 22nd November, 2021.

LMU has one of the highest concentration of Faculty on SCIVAL Ranking of Researchers of top 500 Nigerian researchers for three consecutive years, in 2021 and 2022.

January 2023, a new Director, LUCRID was announced. The official Handover ceremony between the former Director, Dr. A.A. Adediran and the new, Dr. Oluwasogo Dada was done.
