Action Plans for Women/Girls entry, participation & Performance

Objectives

  • Ensuring that strategies and policies that assure the promotion of gender equality and empowerment of all women and girls at all levels are adopted in the University. 
  • Ensure no forms of discrimination against women and girls take place within the university as they are engaged in leadership and management positions by qualification.
  • Full participation by women in leadership positions and decision-making at all levels in the university.
  • Advocate for the eradication of violence, exploitation, and harmful practices/forced marriage and female genital mutilation being two examples-on the women and girls within the university community.
  • Track annually the academic performance of female students and implement targeted programs where observed gaps need attention. 

Process Input

  • Ensure women and female students’ participation in management and leadership positions each academic session to achieve gender balance.
  • Allocate university resources to sponsor programs that address the empowerment of female staff and students.
  • Engage women as directors, deans of colleges, heads of departments, and committee members across the university in each academic session.
  • Achieve equal representation of female students in student leadership positions, such as the Student Representative Council, Departmental Associations, and college representatives.
  • Encourage attendance and active participation of SDG 5 team members in relevant meetings and functions.
  • Actively engage SDG 5 team members in advocacy efforts to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment.
