LOW CARBON ENERGY MANAGEMENT

LOW CARBON ENERGY MANAGEMENT

Landmark University uses energy sourced from the national grid and also from other sources like the solar power. A look into the amount of energy used as a university is as follows:

Electricity consumption of the University from the national grid = 1 megawatt = 86.4 GJ (gigajoules)

Amount of electricity from the generating set = 0.8 megawatt = 69.12 GJ

Low carbon-source = 1.15 megawatts = 99.36 GJ

Total energy used = (1+0.8+1.15) = 2.95 megawatts

On a 24-hour basis, 2.95 megawatts = 254.88 GJ

Percentage of low-carbon used by the university community is equal to:

Low-carbon energy used × 100

Total energy used

= 99.36 GJ × 100

   254.66 GJ

= 38.98%

This shows that 38.98% of energy used in the University community comes from low-carbon energy sources
